VVHS Drive-Thru Graduation May 26th, 2020

VVHS Drive-Thru Graduation Important Information
Posted on 04/25/2019
Dear Class of 2020 Senior and Parents,
Please save the date, May 26, 2020, as we are planning a Cap and Gown Event for the Class of 2020!
We will have a "drive-thru" event on May 26th for seniors to pick up diplomas/diploma covers, receive cords if they have earned them, walk the stage, take photos, etc. Only the VVHS senior will be allowed to exit the car; however, families are encouraged to cheer from the car, use noisemakers, take photos/video from the car, decorate cars, and celebrate after you leave the school.
The event will take place in 3 sessions:
May 26th, 8 am to 10 am
May 26th, 10 am to 12 pm
May 26th, 5 pm to 7 pm
Students, please talk with your parents to determine which time session is best for your family. This will be determined on a first come first served basis, as the information is timestamped when submitted. Please use this link to make your request for your first and second choice: https://forms.gle/qSHiyT7jtbbgyQ2j8
The link will close this Friday at 3 pm. On Monday, May 18th, you will be notified regarding which session you will be attending. If you do not select a session, one will be selected for you, so if you do not care which session you will attend, you do not need to complete the form. If you are not attending, please complete the form and choose that in the selections.
Students will wear their caps and gowns for the event; however, this is not mandatory. Students who are not wearing cap and gown should dress nicely as photos will be taken by a professional photographer--which can later be purchased.
The event will be held in the front of the new administration building. Each student's family will only be allowed one car. Students will receive a school-logo mask on May 22nd to wear at the event. These will be distributed in front of the Keith Gunn Gym from 9am to noon on May 22nd. This will give you time to wash it before wearing or place it in a bag for 4 days before wearing.
Students who cannot attend by car are still allowed to participate; however, you must email Ms. Noyer at nnoyer@vvuhsd.org to make arrangements.
Students who are not receiving a diploma will be allowed to participate; however, you will not receive your diploma unless you have met all graduation requirements. Participation in this event does not verify you as a graduate, but considering these circumstances, we have decided to change our "walking" policy. You will still receive a diploma cover, walk the stage, and take photos.
At no time during the event will you be shaking hands with or hugging anyone. Items will be handed to you by staff who are wearing face masks and gloves.
Further details will be sent to you on May 18th regarding the session you will attend, how to enter campus, a map showing the process, etc.
In addition, we will be sending another link at the end of next week so that you can upload celebration photos. After the event, we hope families will celebrate at home and take photos with their graduates in cap and gown. We will create a Virtual Graduation Party video, so have fun and be creative. And smile! I will remind you of this again as we get closer to May 26th, and I will send the link again on May 26th so that you will be reminded to upload your photos.
I am certain this event will not replace a traditional graduation. However, I hope you know how much we love you and miss you. We celebrate you, we celebrate your accomplishments, and we carry you in our hearts.
A virtual graduation video will also be shared with you in June.
Thank you, Class of 2020, for handling this situation with understanding, strength, kindness, and dignity. I am so very proud of each and every one of you.
It has been an honor being your principal,
Ms. Noyer
