Welcome to Victor Valley High School! As we move into the 2020-2021 school year with the challenges we are facing due to the current health situation, it has never been clearer that school is far more than attending classes, taking exams, and doing school work. School is about community and connecting with others. Victor Valley High School is about family, and while our students are attending classes online from home, one thing is certain--our students are missed, our students continue to be a part of our Jackrabbit family, and our staff can hardly wait to see the students back on campus.
Victor Valley High School is a special place. Our school is in its 105th year of serving the students of the Victor Valley.
As the oldest high school in the area, VVHS is rooted in tradition. The Axe game which has been played yearly against Barstow since 1932 is the second longest high school rivalry game in Southern California. The Bell game which is played yearly against Apple Valley High School has been played since 1969. Our wrestling program continues to be the pride of our school winning a CIF State Title in 1987 and earning 7 CIF Championship Titles in the past 9 years. Our famous “V” which is visible on the hillside of “hospital hill” was placed there in the 1930s and still represents our school today. Our Keith Gunn Gymnasium, John Dudley Tennis Courts, and Ollie Butler Basketball Floor are named after those who have left their marks on our school. For any Jackrabbit, this history runs deep, and we take great pride in wearing Green and White.
Victor Valley High School is also proud of its long history of embracing diversity. Our students often comment that there are “good vibes” at VVHS.
Our students excel at Victor Valley High School. We have students currently attending Stanford, Harvard, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and many more top 30 universities. Our AVID, Theatre, and CTE programs are arguably the best of the desert. We have been recognized by U.S. News Best High Schools with a Silver Ranking, by the California PBIS Coalition with Gold and Silver Recognition for our PBIS Implementation, and this past school year, we were recognized by the California PBIS Coalition for our outstanding contribution of support and care during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and resulting disruptions to schools. They wrote, “Your heroic efforts to provide support of all kinds to California’s students, families, and communities did not go unnoticed.” We continue to strive for excellence at Victor Valley High School, which is why we consider ourselves heads and “rabbit tails” above the rest.
As a Victor Valley High School graduate myself, I cannot express to you how much being a Jackrabbit means to me. I will continue to provide the best high school experience for the students of VVHS.
